NINE TIPS TO COMBAT DRY SKIN
- Do not take super-hot (or long) showers
Hot water is the enemy of dry winter skin. “Too much hot water causes increased evaporation of your skin’s natural hydration. After your shower, use a soft towel to pat skin dry and apply a hydrating moisturizer. Opt for a cream or balm that is thicker than the one you use during the summer. Use a balm with ingredients such as silicone, petrolatum, lanolin, and natural oils.
- Moisturize multiple times a day
It is important to slather yourself in moisturiser in the morning and evening. Before you put on pyjamas, rub a hydrating body cream all over from your neck down to your feet.
- Exfoliate in moderation
The last thing raw, dehydrated, winter-worn skin needs is a harsh, abrasive scrub or peel which can further deplete moisture and worsen irritation. If you notice flaking or redness when you exfoliate, swap in a gentler face peel formula. Steer clear of stronger acids.
- Dab your skin dry
Lightly dab your face and body dry with your towel rather than rubbing. Avoid scratching the skin, too no matter how itchy your dryness is, scratching can damage the skin’s surface and cause more moisture loss. Instead, dab a hydrating ointment or balm on the area to immediately calm and protect it.
- Humidify your home
Do not go to sleep without one. Use a humidifier to add moisture back into the air.
- Moisturise all over
Areas of your body like the hands and feet can easily be missed but are also prone to dehydration. The skin on the feet is thicker, so can build up with dry, rough layers of dead skin, and skin on the hands is constantly exposed to the elements (cold, wind) and repeated hand washing, which can deplete skin’s moisture.
- Moisturising tip
Keep hands and feet soft and hydrated all winter long by slathering on rich hand cream and foot cream before you go bed at night. Then, slip on socks or gloves: The fabric and heat inside them will help the formula absorb into the skin.
- Drink up!
Proper hydration is directly related to skin cell regeneration which is key to a glow. We suggest drinking between 1 and 2 litres of water a day.
- Do not skip your lips
The skin on your lips is thinner than the rest of your face, making it more susceptible to damage from the harsh winter elements.
We, of course, suggest using Lanolab multi-use balm to combat your winter weather dry lips.
WHY USE LANOLAB?
Lanolab is a nourishing balm, thanks to the papaya enzymes! Replenishing moisture to protect your skin and lips from further damage. It’s that simple.
TWO NATURAL INGREDIENTS
Lanolab contains two natural ingredients, lanolin and papaya extract. Both are excellent for hydrating the skin which is exactly what your dry winter skin needs.
According to https://www.byrdie.com/lanolin-use the benefits of lanolin are endless making it the optimal winter weather dry skin remedy.
From tight, cracked skin, to rough, scaly patches—benefits from lanolin.
LANOLIN IS THE PERFECT INGREDIENT FOR NOURISHING YOUR WINTER DRY SKIN
Lanolin forms a non-occlusive barrier, which means it does not smother the skin or feel too heavy.
Its emollient properties soften and heal by forming an oily layer on the top of the skin so those with dry, scaly patches are likely to find relief.
- Retains moisture
Lanolin can hold up to twice its weight in water, which means it is fantastic at keeping moisture trapped within the skin.
- Heals chapped lips
Lanolin can penetrate the moisture barrier of the lips, as opposed to just sitting right on top. This makes it an excellent option for healing dry, chapped lips.
